In these days when it looks like airports suitable for GA are losing to real estate developers, the politicians in the Chicago area are contemplating the creation of the new Will County Airport. Details are few and far between, but even the likes of presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama are getting into the mix trying to get local power brokers like Sen. Dick Durbin and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. together to hammer this thing into reality.
Will the Will County Airport bring good things to GA? Hard to say with the trend towards accomodating the demands of the airlines over the needs of independent flyer, but we can hope can't we?

We have several GA airports in the vicinity. There's the Kankakee airport, Lansing airport, Joliet airport, and Bult Field. The previously named Sangor airport, now Bult Field,has recently received over $25 million in renovations including a brand new runway, less than 1 mile from this proposed politically driven airport. The improvements to this airport have been paid for without TAX dollars by a local entrepreneur - that's what America ia about, innovations and investment by the private sector to make America a better place. Ditch the politically driven airport that has sucked well or $2 million in taxdollars for the last 30 years to study and promote it. Use and promote Bult Field!
